Orchids

I stepped away from the family adventure in the National History Museum to find the bathroom that I'd mapped out earlier, as every pregnant woman does! As I threaded my way back through the Oceans exhibit, I took a step into the Orchid exhibit enroute to return to the family. Imagine my surprise to be transported back ten years to the Mainau's orchid house. Now, those orchids filled an entire glass house and were visions of color and scents of heaven in room after room. They draped from the ceiling, climbed the walls, and colored every inch in a dazzling display of shapes and sizes. These delicate beauties stunned me. The orchids today were a mere hint of those at Mainau, but the reminder of carefree, single days of traveling abroad was priceless.
